MOBILE MEDICARE UNIT (MMU)
10 villages in the Cuddalore Block - Rural people and mainly for Elders of age above 60
It's a project where we provide basic essential Medicare at the doorsteps of needy and the underprivileged elder. To offer older people in remote rural and urban slum areas access to free medical care by visiting them in their own communities. Medical care is a big problem in the very remote villages. Therefore, we started MMU programme which helps elderly in 10 Villages of Cuddalore Block to improve their health and well being.
This MMU provides free health care, medical treatment and medications to disadvantaged elderly living in poverty. It's a project where we provide basic essential medicare at the doorsteps of needy and the underprivileged elders. To offer older people in remote rural and urban slum areas access to free medical care by visiting them to their own villages.
It is just an amalgamation to the primary health care centers. This gives specialized care to the Elders. Ageing is a time of multiple illness and general disabilities, where we give care, medicines to prevent any disease, thereby increasing their quality of health. Through this MMU project, each elderly has a medical chart and a constant monitoring of their health is done. This programme enables them to assure their role in maintaining and improving their own health and in encouraging doing the same and secure old age beneficiaries. This Mobile Medicare Unit is equipped with one Doctor, and a Nurse along with the required medicines. It aims in helping the older people living in slum areas, who are from a weak social background.
